Comments

Out at Watersprite Hut for the weekend, snow mainly felt stable with medium low density on high density. Cut a few hand shears along the skin track with no results. Observed a short (3-5cm tall) but widespread layer of surface hoar and sugary snow on N and NW aspects in the alpine. Due to low vis fog and low clouds with flat light we skied back down our skin track and had some great pow turns. Hit a few steeper 30-35 deg convex rolls with no sliding or sluffing. Some evidence of old avalanche debris in runout zones from steeper slopes but no recent avalanches or crown lines visible. Large cornices at the ridge just East of Martin Peak.
