Snowmobile: Frisby Ridge

Riding quality was:

Terrible

Snow conditions were:

• Crusty
• Heavy
• Wet

We rode:

• Dense trees
• Mellow slopes
• Open trees

We stayed away from:

• Steep slopes

The day was:

• Cloudy
• Foggy
• Stormy
• Wet
• Windy

Avalanche conditions

• 30cm + of new snow, or significant drifting, or rain in the last 48 hours.
• Rapid temperature rise to near or above 0°C or wet surface snow.

We did our field observation on a south-west facing, 30 degrees slope at 1935 Meters. Temp -2 and heavy winds from the south.

206cm snow pack, with a visible crust layer at 65cm, and a rain crust on top.

Our test yielded two results:

ECTP09 at 135cm

STEQ1 at 70cm
