Comments

Given the reports of the wind slab, we opted for southern aspect glades and lapped Pulpit 1. Dug a test pit on our first uptrack, following are our observations:

Snow Height: 195cm

Elevation: 2200m

Air Temp: -11 degrees Celsius

Aspect: S

Slope Angle: 34 degrees

Results: CTM-17. Failed on the interface 50cm down. Collapsed but did not slide. The storm snow required a strong hand push to sheer off the interface after the test failure. Looks like it will be some time before this layer heals.
