Comments

Observed avalanches in the area of 5 mile and Ymir bowl seem to start naturally from steep exposed rocks at ridge top. Recent rain and current warm temps have produced several natural slides in the area.

This slide started from the ridge above the “death traverse”, ran through it, and down into an area with a lot of skin track traffic. The second photo shows the debris settled over an old skin track.

This can serve as a reminder of the risks of using the death traverse (I’m guilty of using it in the past too), and staying out of the runout zone when going up the skin track.
