Comments

Deep powder in the trees bordering Cougar Brook (below Ursus Major). Did two laps in the area before hopping back in the Connaught Drainage.

This storm brought 30-40cm of uber-low-density F snow, now lying on top of a hard 1F wind-compacted slab, or a 1F wind slab (lee of features). Snowpack on the ridge was at 200 in exposed areas to 250cm in lees.

On the way down, fast sluffing was observed. We noticed multiple loose dry avalanches @ 2000m on all aspects, running for a short distance (usually 10m max). No slab properties were observed (yet). In Cougar Brook watch out for large cornices at the top of the Ursus Major moraines.

Overcast all day with cloud ceiling at 2400m. Winds were light from the SW for the most part. Snowing S1 to S2 for most of the day, S-1 around 3PM.
