Comments
Lots of variability in snowpack here. Poor coverage and crust below treeline, top 30cm of snow is large facets in the fan.
In the couloir there is a mix of icy snow, fairly soft snow and sluff from a previous party. We stopped just short of topping out as the top of the couloir had a thin hard wind skin which as you ascended higher was overtop of a softer cohesive windslab that would break in blocks and was not very confidence inspiring.
Overall stability was good on the decent with normal amounts of sluffing and excellent facet faceshots in the fan.
Lake is frozen but not the most confidence inspiring but we were able to safely cross without issue.
