Planned Grassy to Steed hut. Ascending climber's right side of ridge up to subpeak of Grassy Mtn, loud deep whumphing on 30 degree slope. No cracks/slabs visible. 10cm fresh heavy wet snow overnight, with 30-40cm snow over 48h prior. Warm weather -1 degree. Unavoidable slope angle so turned around and descended.
