Comments
It was a warm day in the Rockies with freezing levels around 1850m today! Even though it was cloudy the sun still packed a punch through the clouds and the upper few cm of snow were wet at lower elevations. We saw signs of loose wet avalanches up to size 2 from recent days in the area. All aspects that saw sun recently now have a melt-freeze crust on them that makes for not so great skiing. We stuck to shady slopes as much as possible, and even found some powder high up. The weak layer from mid February can still be found down around a meter, and is reactive in tests, although we haven't noticed any recent slides on it.
