Comments
Attempted nak today. Made it to about 1400m. Lots of cracks breaking trail. Jumped on test slope, didn't go, but partner felt whoomph 15m back. More whoomphs going up. Dug a pit and did extensive column test.
About 30cm of fresh powder, 10cm of crust and then 60cm of denser snow. Extended column failed on first crust after elbow taps but didn't propagate. Failure and propagation 1m down after 5 shoulder taps on early January crust. Decided to call it a day and go home early with all the Intel we had.
