Comments

Day trip to check out conditions after Feb 7th - 8th storm. Travel was good with 20 cm of ski penetration, stepping out of ski below treeline boot penetration was about 1m. We dug a pit at 2280m NE facing in a wind loaded feature with a 250cm snowpack. We found a few deeply buried weak layers and had moderate results sudden planar down 60cm with the compression and extended column test. This was definitely a concern: reactive hard slab with propagation potential. We stayed in very conservative terrain all day. Lots of stettlements/whumphing even in the flats down below the highway on exit.
