Goofed about at Haffner today with old friends & new. Busy day with ~9 top ropes set up. Ice & mixed routes in good shape. Avalanche obs: extensive large grain surface hoar observed, undoubtedly from the multiple cloudless, windless nights (see photos). While near a creek (so not a reliable observation of humidity), I found this same surface hoar on Moraine lake road a few days prior at & below treeline-no where near flowing water. A good surface to keep in mind when fresh snow falls, as it could become a nasty PWL.
