Comments

Skied a few short laps in the Healy pass area this morning. Observed some natural activity in the area from the last couple of days. A few size 1 slabs on the lee aspect of the Monarch Ramparts, these did not propagate or run far. Slabs on lee slopes on the Monarch's northeast aspect (can't remember what that line is called off the top of my head) and a north east facing bowl on Haiduk peak. These slabs were also only within the recent storm snow/ wind slabs and did not trigger deeper instabilities. In contrast to the small features on the ramparts, these avalanches did propagate very widely and appeared to run quite far (>size 2.) Skiing in the Healy area today was good with storm snow settling quickly into 10-15cm ski pen and sun crusts developing on steeper south aspects below treeline. Wind effect evident in the area, particularly above treeline.
