Comments
The calm before the storm, depending where you were! We skinned up towards forum ridge with zero wind on the SE aspect, dug a pit at 1900 with 70cm of total snow. 10cm of wind effected snow on facets which failed at CT 1. 30cm of snow failed at CT 8 and total snow pack failed at CT 10 4” above the ground on a ice crust. From that result we chose to transition at wind dancer tree and ski tight trees managing the variable wind effect snow. Pow was stiff under foot but we were pleased to get a day in before large amounts of snow sit on that variable snow pack. We did a couple laps and were able to ski right down to the lake avoiding sharks for the last 100m and skinned out across the frozen lake. (No cracking sounds from the ice)
