A pit located on flat terrain BTL in a sparsely tree meadow showed 5cm of low density storm snow on top of a very weak 1mm crust. Bleow this the snow is well consolidated until we reach the early season crusts. Large facets exist both ontop and below all the crusts right down to ground. Moderate compression test results , sudden collapse , down 100 on facets (3mm) between the November crusts. Repeated 3 times. Surface hoar layers no longer visible in our location. Triggering the persistent slab is our main concern with the snowpack.
