Comments
Last weekend's storm snow made for great powder riding at Treeline and Alpine. Unfortunately, it's not bonding well to the old snow below it, a layer of weak facets and surface hoar. While sledding on mellow terrain, we remotely triggered two small avalanches in adjacent steep features. Several other small storm slab avalanches had also failed on this weak layer in previous days. We kept to low-angle terrain and were extra mindful to stay away from overhead hazards. The winds were light which left a lot of options for sledding deep snow away from the avalanche hazard.
