Melt freeze crust up to 1800m, wind affected snow above this, getting harder as you approached the alpine where hard slabs and sastrugi were observed. There was minimal soft snow in sheltered treeline areas between the hard alpine wind slab and melt-freeze crust below. Observed surface hoar and stellar snowflakes below treeline and treeline.
