We were moving from Peyto start point with intention of staying at Peyto hut. While crossing Peyto lake we noticed 2 recent size 2 wet avalanches with deposits contacting the lake. We then came to bottom of the moraine. The crux that buts up against the moraine where you have to take skis off and climb looked extremely wind affected, with a recent size 2 occurring on a similar aspect only 200 meters away. We selected a site indicative of the aspect, and dug a pit. With daylight leaving at this point we only had time for one CT. We had results of CTM8 SC down 40 on facets size 2-3. While this was going on the light changed and a large windlip became visible on the crux. Making our decision final to not attempt. Hopefully the situation changes for anyone venturing out!
