Avalanche control on Mt Dennis today.
We do this to protect the road, not the ice climbs - but obviously this is key information for climbers.
Threw 12 explosives into targets on Mt Dennis today and the results were less than anticipated. The wind has ravaged the upper slopes and there was tonnes of scouring and bare rock in the start zones. Regardless we got the following results:
Pilsner - size 2 ran from 2/3 height, over the climbs and 1/2 way into the runout zone
Carlsberg - size 2 ran from the upper cliffs, over both pitches of the climb
Heineken Hall - size 2.5 ran from up high to the mid runout zone
Gully left of Guinness - size 2.5 ran to the mid runout zone
Guinness Gully - no avalanche
