Comments

We spent the day up the Goldstream river drainage where we found a stable, right side up snowpack everywhere we traveled at and below treeline. (We didn’t get into the alpine.) No recent avalanche activity was observed. A test profile on an east/southeast facing slope around 1800 m did not produce any results. We were able to find the November crust near the ground, but the early December crust/surface hoar complex was absent. Total height of snow was between 150 and 200 cm. No other persistent weak layers were observed. What we did find was excellent skiing and sledding. 🙂
