Comments
Witnessed a skier triggered size 2 - 2.5 avalanche. Slab released and propagated easily on first turn from ridgetop. I did not get close enough to measure but crown appeared to be 30 - 40 cm. The skier straightlined out and was okay. before the skier dropped he warned a lower group to stay in a safe spot while he skied. no other parties involved in the slide.
Notes from the day. Windy on ridgetops with a wind slab apparent. large cornices. protected areas held nice snow. lots of people out touring with many choosing lines that dropped down on top of skin track (decker) or starting off cornices above the skin track. be safe everyone, don’t drop in on people.
