Comments

We skied Grizzly Trees, then Rogers Run. On the uptrack, we got one local whumpf. We dug a pit before dropping in the trees @ 1920m on a S-facing, 35deg slope in an open clearing. We got a CTH 23, 24 SP down 40cm on PP, 2mm on F snow. CTH 26 SP down 70cm on FC, 0.5mm on F/4F snow. The snow conditions was pretty decent, albeit a little heavy on steep, solar feature. On the way back up to Rogers Run, I noticed a breakable sun crust on steep, solar features up to 2000m. Several avalanches 24-48hr old in Grizzly Bowl running to Sz 2.5, mostly from SE/E faces. A Sz1 slid in the morning once the sun got to it (Na, Sz1, E face, 2200m, 35deg slope, 50cm x 50m crown, ran for 300m). No other signs of instability skiing Rogers Run, but we did keep our route conservative. As always, preserved blower pow!
