Sky started as “broken” becoming “few” throughout the day. -11 when we left the car at 0700 and -8 at the base of the climb at 0900. No new snow overnight, no snow through the day. Winds were calm, no blowing snow. Ski penetration approximately 10cm and foot pen was 35cm up to waist deep in places. We started below the clouds and ended above, see photo for valley fog elevation.
No evidence of recent avalanches was observed.
Ice was brittle and aerated.
