Comments
We rode some conservative lines on slopes less than 30deg through the trees and cut blocks off of Joffre shoulder to get a feeling for the current conditions. We were riding in wind affected (lee) snow on the NE aspect, weather was cloudy with sunny breaks, light to moderate winds. Above 1400m no rain crust; wind scoured snow on the ridge above approx 1600m. We did not observe cracking or other signs of propagation on NE slopes. We chose very conservative lines due to the combination of storm/wind slabs and a potential persistent weak layer problem.
