Comments

Gambled on good pow around sky pilot and lost. Drove to ~550m. Road up in good shape. Raining to about 900m in the morning. Heavy wet pow at 1200m and just ever so slightly getting lighter at treeline. Most paths in the zone had slid partially. Of note was one big size 1.5 slide in the trees where the normal uptrack leaves the sky pilot Valley road (see pic). Crown was ~50cm in steeper terrain above and weeded through the old growth - scary! Both stadium glacier gullies had slid partially but not full path. We did one tree lap, got soaked, and headed home. The high rating seemed appropriate for sure. Not much up there that's reasonable to ski in these conditions!
