Comments
Headed to Callaghan lake for an overnight camping trip via mainline trail, explored the terrain on the ridge towards hidden peak and returned via wild spirit trail.
Big surface hoar was developing along the mainline trail (see picture). Foot penetration was thigh deep in most places. Powder was dry. Tree bombs were crusty in the trees.
Wind was quite chilly and we ended up skiing with our thick puffies and turned around at our high point at 11am to avoid the forecasted even colder temperatures.
Visibility was clear in the morning with patches of blue sky. In the late morning mountains across the neighbouring valleys were not visible.
