Mt Hector area

Riding quality was:

Good

Snow conditions were:

• Crusty
• Powder
• Wind affected

We rode:

• Mellow slopes
• Open trees
• Sunny slopes

We stayed away from:

• Alpine slopes
• Convex slopes

The day was:

• Cold
• Sunny

Skied one of the treed benches roadside from Mt. Hector. Good skiing in S/SW aspects where we found powder with the occasionnal thin suncrust on steeper solar slopes. Saw debris from a few days ago on most aspects in the alpine (Apollo bowl).

We crossed the drainage South of what’s been called Appollo bowl and found debris from an avalanche that occured below treeline. Couldn’t see what had triggered it. A few days old as well.

Lots of variability in new snow density/depth below treeline with aspect changes.
