Comments

Cheeky walk along the ridge to scout lines. Aware of the forecast and thoughtful of the hazard to potential trail walkers below. Ridgewalk produced red flags: drum like + hollow noises, cracks and signs of slabbing over a weak layer, and collapsing faceted snow. Verbalizing the likehood of turning around. Hopeful that instabilities were localized to the windy ridgetop, continued to a 'sheltered' gully where considerable effort was put in to stomp drifted snow onto the line. Results were favourable enough to attempt. Ski cuts to islands of safety in the steeps produced sloughing and increased confidence by lack of reaction. Further increased finding a solid midpack and quality snow in the throat of the run. Noted covered avalanche debris where the gullys merged. Snowpack supported turns to the valley though it got stumpy. Cant say its recommended and would really not venture near the open slopes, though good turns were had.
