Comments
Dug a pit in Holzworth Meadows in Bullmoose riding area in Tumbler Ridge. Depth of snow HS155. 40 cm of fresh snow over the last three day storm. Below the 40 cm is rounds down to 70 cm where there is a 3 cm ice layer from rainfall last week. Below this is a facet layer down to 98 cm with another 2 cm ice layer. Below this are facets down to 130 with another ice layer with facets and depth hoar to ground.
Did some compression tests and had resistance planer after 5 taps down to 40 cm. CTE5 RP D40, then CTM14 RP D50, then CTH26 SP D70 on ice layer.
Be aware that there is potential of large slides down to 70 cm on the ice layer that is reactive even on mild slopes.
Great snow on trails and meadows, be careful on slopes due to the high potential of avalanche.
