Goat's Eye - Profile

Map for Mountain Information Network report: Goat's Eye - Profile

Comments

Before doing the profile, we toured around Wawa Ridge - 10 cm ski penetration at treeline, generally supportive snowpack to skis, isolated wind slabs found around Wawa ridge - stubbornly reactive and not propagating on the one feature we tested. We didn't travel far, so only a point observation.

In the Goat's Eye profile, we found a gradual temperature gradient and evidence of rounding & bonding crystals. The surface hoar was hard to distinguish, but could see a few decomposing plates amongst the faceted crystals. This layer is at the top of the weaker lower snowpack.
