Ashman obs

Skied North and South side of Ashman Ridge on Saturday. Just barely drivable to trailhead. Wind light NW. Bluebird. -15 at trailhead - a little warmer up high, especially in the sun. Evidence of strong W wind in some areas including rime and sastrugi almost down to treeline. One E basin scoured to ground in places, but clearly by W wind coming downhill. Nearby areas were cross loaded with excellent powder skiing. Widespread surface hoar to 1 cm on all aspects from below treeline to ridge top, except where recently wind hammered. Snow on S aspect surprisingly good, almost to ridge top. No sign of natural avalanches or instability noted. Did not dig.
