Found the deeps in the Ursus Trees today! 20-25 cm deep trail breaking with a few knee deep wind drifts at valley bottom increased to 40-50 cm deep (pockets of 60cm !) at treeline in sheltered trees. Wind was moderate from the SW at valley bottom in the early morning with strong gusts at treeline but died down as the day progressed. Frequent Flyer has not run over the firm Nov 5th crust yet, definitely a spooky crossing its fan with the morning's wind and we spaced out a lot. The new snow could easily be cut as soft slabs on steeper rolls. Two Sz 1 soft slabs (largest was 7m wide X 10m long and 30-50cm deep) were triggered while breaking trail in the Ursus Trees. Watch out when this storm slab becomes more cohesive! The Nov 5th crust was not felt much in the Ursus Trees but for most turns in the Hospital Gullies where the sloughs were running fast and far. STS ran Sz 2 to 2/3 fan during the late morning. All in all, an amazing day with countless faceshots!
