Comments

At 1500m snow was 30cm powder over hard crust. Temp was warm (-2) and it was very sunny. Up higher around 1600m snow got deeper but crust was still present below. We dug a test pit at 2045m on a protected south facing slope, temp -5, cloudy, no wind snow depth was 235cm. Column test result 25, failure at 120cm on what I can only assume used to be a hoar frost layer (now it looks like facets).

At the top of our run some of us stomped hard on a slope and were able to get a large 50mx100m area to whoomf. This obviously freaked us out and we retreated via conservative line to mellower slopes. We saw some signs of small point release sluffs on steep south facing slopes.

Skiing was amazing, super powdery!
