Comments

Managed to get above the inversion where we had great views and warm temps. We found massive surface hoar (20mm) on the top of the snow up to 2000m even well away from sources of moisture. Above that it was much smaller, around 2-3mm. Skied a few laps in NE treeline terrain where we had no signs of instability on slopes up to 37°. A quick dig in the start zone showed a layer of facets down 30-40 (no crust) that was failing as a resistant planer. There's some great skiing to be had if you can find somewhere the sun can't reach and is sheltered from the wind.
