Comments

Lutak Zone: Observed D2 slide from last week, crown was about 30-45cm thick. E aspect near 3000ft. Snowpack: Series of crusts/slabs from 10-60cm deep. Between each harder layer (1F) was a thick fist-hard layer of facetted snow. Upon isloation, a column failed at two different spots: 30cm and 50cm deep. Q2 sudden planar on both. These layers were whumphing and failing on us throughout the day. Originally posted on Haines Avalanche by Erik Stevens on 13/1/2018
