Sunny and hot conditions will prevail across B.C. and southern YT today and tomorrow as a ridge of high pressure builds over the region. Over the south, temperatures will rise from mid-teens in the morning to low to mid-thirties late in the afternoon for both days. Over the central and northern B.C., temperatures will reach mid-twenties in the afternoon but falls to near 10 degree Celsius in the morning.

A weak disturbance will likely send clouds to southern B.C. Tuesday afternoon and evening. There is a slight risk of thunderstorms near the international boarder Tuesday night.

The animation of the 500mb height indicates an upper trough exiting northeastern B.C. this morning, as an upper ridge of high pressure builds over from southwest. The ridge will hold over B.C. through Tuesday except a weak pulse will move over southern B.C. from south Tuesday afternoon.

The ridge of high pressure will break down over the YT Tuesday night as an upper trough approaches from the west. An upper low will move towards Vancouver Island late Wednesday and spread showers and thunderstorms to southern B.C.
