Mountain Weather Forecast

Snow Over All BC Mountain Ranges

A weak low pressure system will slide down from the BC Northwest to the southern interior today, spreading light to moderate snow over all mountain ranges. Light snow will continue tonight as the system weakens. A surface trough along the BC coast is expected to produce scattered light flurries over parts of the coastal ranges Sunday and Sunday night.

An arctic front will remain on a line from near the White Pass to North Rockies then to South Rockies. This system will bring frigid conditions across the north, such as the North Rockies and the White Pass area. The cold air will gradually push southward and will start to affect the Cariboo and Columbia ranges by Sunday.

The upper-level animation shows a very stable pattern with not much change expected over the next couple of days. What we have is a large upper ridge sitting over the Pacific well offshore of the BC coast and persistent northwesterly flow over the entire province.
