$ 12.7K raised
The 9th Annual Canuck Splitfest presented by Trapper Snowboards on Jan 12, was a fantastic event that raised $12,700 for Avalanche Canada. Since 2011, the Canuck Splitfest has raised a total of over $64,000 for public avalanche safety programs. A huge thank you to all of the sponsors, volunteers, presenters and supporters who helped with the fundraising efforts. Over 300 people from all over North America attended the Saturday night social, raffle and presentations. Presentations from Grant Helgeson of Avalanche Canada, Marty Schaffer of CAPOW, Mike Wigley (aka Pow Slashing Wigley), and Abby Cooper provided a great combination of technical and fun, sharing images and experiences of time well spent in the mountains.

Our amazing MC was Mark Hartley of Stoke Roasted Coffee who kept everyone fired up with his beans and brew. Sponsors and participants described their experience as a truly authentic backcountry event with Revelstoke BC as a great location for the amazing snow and a meca of touring possibilities.

The raffle was the biggest ever with 8 splitboards, one each from Trapper, Olive, Arbor, Prior, Libtech, Venture Snowboards, Weston Backcountry, and Chimera. Other prizes included a day of heli-skiing with Eagle Pass, Arc'teryx jackets, bindings from Karakoram, K2, Phantom, and Spark R&D, skins, backpacks, avalanche gear, a hut trip, and tons of other gear from the event sponsors.

The tradeshow was well attended with reps from Trapper, Prior, K2, Splitboard HQ, Weston Backcountry, Karakoram, Nibz, Revelstoke Tourism, and CAPOW with many demo boards available and great Splitfest swag from Nibz!

Sponsors of the social included Mt Begbie Brewery and Whitetooth Brewing. Tara Sutherland of Royal LePage and Mackenzie Peak Law supplied the beverages, while The Village Idiot Bar and Grill donated the pizzas!
Special thanks to Sandman Hotel for providing special rates on accommodation for Splitfest attendees, who also received half-price lift tickets to Revelstoke Mountain Resort for the weekend. Many folks took full advantage of these great opportunities!
Please join us in thanking these event sponsors for helping raise money for public avalanche safety.
