Comments
Several recent avalanches in the Crowsnest area today. We staged at Atlas and took a trip up to the Window Mountain Bowl. There still isn’t much snow at lower elevations there and riding is pretty terrible. Total snow amounts are only about 25cm in many places there. We experienced extreme winds from the south west that were transporting snow off ridge crests and loading lee east and north aspects. This rapid loading of recent storm snow by wind was likely the trigger for the avalanches in the photos.
