Comments
Summary of obs from an AST class in the Fraser Chutes area: 1 whumpf in the Fraser gravel pit, otherwise no signs of instability. New snow from this week has consolidated into a slab, however it wasn't reactive in the areas that we travelled. Compression tests (CT) on a south-facing slope near 1100 m in a sheltered area: Repeated resistant planar failures above and below a faceting wind slab from last week's arctic air. Failures were approx 15 cm and 50 cm from the snow surface. Ski quality lower in the chutes was great.
