Comments

I believe the storm slab from recent snowfall was sitting on a rain crust deposited on the previous Monday. The temperature at treeline was rising to near zero.

We triggered a size 1 avalanche first thing this morning while skiing below a slight convexity. During our next lap, we elected to avoid convexities.

However, we triggered a size 2 avalanche in supported terrain. Incline was 35 degrees.

Steep treeline was not a good place to ski.
