Extended Column Test (ECT): Sudden planar failure 18cm down, ECTN 17 in new storm snow.
Shooting cracks observed off the skin track on all aspects and across all elevation bands traveled. Evidence of small-scale surface sluffing.
Weather Conditions:
Mixed heavy, wet precipitation throughout the day. Snowline around 900m on the drive up.
Summary:
New storm snow is very reactive, with signs of instability including cracking and sluffing.
