Comments
Day started with heavy cloud and snowing hard, total accumulation estimated 10 cm. It cleared off after lunch and we had beautiful spring sunshine and views of Bone Mountain and Monkman Park from the back meadows. Snow was excellent spring powder, although it was getting wet and heavy by mid afternoon. The same Surface Hoar that has been problems elsewhere is here too, we found it quite reactive below treeline about 30 cm deep. We triggered a couple small test slopes, and saw shooting cracks and small pockets failing all over. We stayed out of treeline/alpine zones, and we didn’t see any signs of recent avalanches up high.
