Comments
15cms at alpine overnight and this am moderate gusty winds up there depositing cross loaded snow on E and S aspects. Ski cut the slope and nothing went so skied some knee deep powder to the safety below BUT then skinning back up heard a loud Woomph and then when turned to get off the slope another loud woomph and then it let go. No one caught in it. The crown was where the ski cut was made and was 50-60 cm thick. There were two slide surfaces one at the 50-60 cms and another just 20 cms down. The snow profile had at least 3 layers of faceting, very continental (rocky Mtn) like atm
