Sunny and -25. Rode up to tree line to stage in sun for avalanche transceiver training. Significant wind drifting noted. At the end of the day just as we dropped into below tree line in a protected pocket on a NW aspect we created a snowmobile triggered crack. Approx 10m in width and 30cm deep.
Upon further inspection;
Dug small pit, upon block isolation (no hits) had a sudden drop. Wind slab down 30 on small (1-2) surface hoar, melt freeze crust.
Wind slab CTM4 down 40 on SH, density change.
