Comments
Some good riding conditions up Bell today with 10-20cm of fresh powder over the old tracks. It snowed for most of the day and stayed cold, around -8C. Visibility wasnt great in the alpine so we mostly stuck to open treed areas. Didnt see any avalanches today but dug a quick pit at 1875m in the trees and found a weak layer of surface hoar from late December buried 60cm deep. It reacted twice in two extended column tests that we did (ECTP 27 down 60 on SH size 6) which helpled us make the decision to stay off of any big slopes steeper than 30 degrees, especially in the trees where that weak layer was best preserved. We found great riding on less steep slopes and smaller features.
