Comments
As we braved the cold to look for surface faceting and surface hoar we noticed a few of the regular perfomers had released in the last 48-72 hours. We had a 0.5 Ski Cut result wind slab on a North facing aspect. NE facing aspect produced hand shear results at the same elevation and depth ,15cm, on surface hoar/facet/crust combo. On ski cut crust wasn’t present, but suspect surface hoar was.
Also on the walk up as we reached 1700m the surface hoar appears to be laying down and blown about. There were still some areas were it was preserved and up to 10mm.
The skiing was extremely slow due to the cold, cold snow. Was good skiing, but bad for feet and hands. It was nice to get out for a walk.
