Comments

Did a tour up Nak peak. Conditions were dust on crust until about 1500m - the crust between 1100-1300m was less solid than the one higher up. 1500m+ was soft snow, graupel like - approximately 20cm above crust. Boot pen was about 15cm. Tracks could still be seen down low, most of the precip must have fallen as rain.

Crust & wind effect up top, we had a look at the North bowl entrance. A size 2 avalanche appeared to have run during the last storm in the North bowl as debris could be seen. There was also a crown on the east side of Yak - it looked old. The north bowl looked pretty wind affected. We tried to go from the col to the top, but the surface was very crusty and bumpy.

Not much wind during the day and a bit of sun and cloud, but things warmed up as we headed down. The snow was good until 1700m where it started pin wheeling. I expect things to be crusty tomorrow. 3 degrees at the car. A pleasant day in the mountains
