Comments
Today we found 15 cm of new snow above 1700m, we topped out at 2200 m where the snow was dry and not forming into a slab. Winds were moderate from the SW and we did see some snow being transported at ridge tops. Temperatures were between -3 at our high point and 0 at staging. We dug a profile on a west-facing slope and found no concerning layers in the upper snowpack and the recent snow is bonding well to the previous surface of soft snow from last week's snowfall.
With almost no visibility today we stuck to low-angle slopes away from any overhead hazard. On our way out the cloud lifted a bit and we observed numerous size 1.5 - 2 dry loose - soft slab avalanches out of steep north-facing terrain.
