Comments
We had a short day above Fraser today. We set out to find a layer of surface hoar that was reported in a MIN from the Halcyon area yesterday. We found 5 mm surface hoar buried down 50 cm in sheltered trees. We were able to get a moderate result during a compression test and no results in an extended column test. With an informal shovel shear test we got propagation across the block. The snow from the storm at Christmas buried this surface hoar layer and we have so far only had reports of it on East aspects around treeline.
