Joffre lakes trail is tricky with some ice and was the crux of the trip. Runners and spikes were the ideal tool for the job. The first lake is melting, the other two seemed in good shape. Glaciers seemed well filled in, as did Matier and its NW face. Slalok skied fairly OK, with chalky snow in the first 400 m, then variable in the central gully which had good snow coverage. Day stayed cold till the afternoon, at which time clouds rolled over and temps dropped a little. Few parties out there.
